Xenia Woods

Terp Savvy is owned and operated by Xenia Fretter Woods. Xenia is an interpreter and interpreter educator based in Humboldt County, California. She holds a Master’s degree in Adult Education, the Certificate of Interpretation, the Certificate of Transliteration, NIC Master and the Specialist Certificate: Legal from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, and has qualified at Level 5 on the EIPA. Certified by the American Sign Language Teachers Association, she is a community college instructor, an interpreting mentor, and a workshop presenter. Her areas of special interest are sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, and rural interpreter education. In her free time, she enjoys quilting, running, camping, and playing music.

 

 

 

Yvonne "Vonnie" Pfingston, M.S., NIC Master, is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and now lives in Humboldt County, California. Vonnie completed the Ohlone College Interpreter Preparation Program in 1985. She has done extensive Deaf-Blind interpreting, as well as post-secondary, medical, social service, and VRS interpreting. Vonnie has taught ASL at Humboldt State University since 1998. Her professional interests include sign language acquisition by beginning students and studying regional signs within the U.S. During her free time, she enjoys her cats and running in the redwoods.
