SC:L Exam Prep Course

Next course: TBA

This ten-week course is designed to prepare you for the SC:L exams (the focus is on the knowledge exam but there are elements of the course that are related to the performance exam as well), and to expand your knowledge of interpreting in legal settings and provide a comprehensive overview of the the most current and relevant literature of the field. The tuition for the course is $225. With full participation, 3.0 CEUs will be awarded.

Course Requirements:

  • Hold valid RID certification (CSC, CI, CT, NIC, NAD, or CDI), have at least 3 years post-certified interpreting experience, and be on a track to meet RID requirements for SC:L testing eligibility in category 1, 2, or 3 within the next two years.

  • Allow at least four hours per week for the coursework. You do not have to be online at any particular time. You can do the work on your schedule, as long as you meet the weekly deadlines. You will need to check your email daily. Weekly participation is crucial to the success of the course.

  • Obtain study materials and complete assignments in a timely manner. You must have the required book by the start of the course. Participants must also be prepared to print a number of documents and articles for use in the course.
